The Joe Salave'a Foundation is a non-profit
501(c)(3) organization. It was originally established
in 2001 to raise money to support and promote youth development
programs with a mission to Empower,
Educate, and Encourage the youth by providing educational
opportunities, sports clinics, and complimentary programs.
The foundation is able to achieve its mission through
financial contributions from local and off-island businesses
and individuals.
Recent Developments after
the Tsunami of 2009 that left many villages in Samoa grieving
and in rubble has pressed this foundation back into service
as a relief effort for those who have been hardest hit.
Here is a letter from
Joe regarding the Tsunami:
I want to Thank all of you for your prayers and continued
support. Any natural disaster is devastating and unpreventable.
In times like this, we find solace in family, friends,
community, and faith. There is no profound word, rhyme,
or phrase to comfort those who have lost loved ones. But
the power of prayer and support will go a long way to
recovery. Lets continue to pray for the families affected
by this disaster.
Love, The Salave'as (Joe, Josie, Katalina, & Fatuimoana)
